LAHORE ( May 9, 2024): University of Management and Technology (UMT) Monday awarded degrees to 1795 graduates at its 26th Convocation held on the campus greens.
According to the details, 1257 Bachelors, 90 Masters, 400 MS/MPhil and 48 PhD degrees were conferred.
Furthermore, 13 Patron’s Gold Medals, 09 Rector’s Silver Medals, 04 Rector’s Academic Excellence Award Gold Medals, 04 Certificates of Excellence, 03 Certificates of Merit, 01 UMT Best Teacher Award along with cash prize of Rs. 100,000, 07 UMT Best School Teacher Awards along with cash prize of Rs. 25,000 each, and 06 Research Publication Awards for MS/MPhil students were given away on the occasion.
UMT Rector Dr. Asif Raza told the new graduates that they were privileged to become part of the fortunate 7% population of the world with university degrees. Dr. Raza highlighted the university’s remarkable journey, while terming the efforts of UMT leadership as unwavering. He said faculty and management of the varsity was propelling the university to become a top private institution in Pakistan. He stated that UMT provides special scholarships to students of less developed and far-flung areas, children of Shuhada, wards of airport security force, police, teachers and many others.
Only in 34 years, UMT has established itself as a credible & respected institution and is competing with universities with history of centuries, he added.
Dr. Asif urged graduates to leverage knowledge and skills to create positive change within communities and contribute meaningfully to society’s betterment.
ILM Trust/UMT Chairman Dr Ahmed Omar Murad congratulated the senior management, graduates, their parents and faculty on this special day. He expressed his unwavering confidence, stating, “Armed with knowledge and polished skills, you hold the key to shaping Pakistan’s bright future.” Dr. Ahmed Murad challenged the graduates to embark on a journey of self-discovery, unlocking their true potential. Beyond just acquiring a degree, he urged the graduates to strive for the extraordinary, leaving their mark on the world through their contributions. The knowledge of right and wrong that our Creator has revealed to us should be your guide, he added.
He also expressed that our brothers and sisters are facing the worst in Gazza. The important lesson that Gazza teaches us is “never focus on what you don’t have because it prevents us from making progress. So just thank Allah for all his blessings and become the best source of public service and nation building.
